Quilts for Japan Sew In

Over 40 quilters showed up at out Quilts for Japan day. We sorted through donations, cut fabrics, pressed, ate lunch, bought stuff at the bake sale, ate dinner, talked and enjoyed - and, oh, yeah, made quilt tops and tied quilts! Several people took projects home to finish there and a number of people volunteered their machine quilting skills. As I type this, I don't know the final number (some people will be bringing items this week) but my best guesstimate is that we will be shipping a total of 100 quilts to Japan as a result of this sew-in.
My thanks to: The Esperance Sloansville United Methodist Church for donating classroom space and cleaning crew and for having a bake sale to raise funds for shipping; The Western Turnpike Deli for providing lunch; Hannafords for providing healthy food and Lucias for providing pizza. Also, thanks to Quilters Dream batting for providing precut batting, TWO individuals who donated rolls and Kona Bay who donated backing.
And ALL the people who showed up and gave so generously of their time and efforts. A round of applause for all involved!
(This page includes pictures of both quilts that were finished that day and quilts that were donated later.)
