April Breezes/March Winds Mystery

(All times are Eastern Standard Time)

Scroll down for the clues

Please don't forget to send me pictures when you are done!  krisdriessen@yahoo.com

The Super Sunday Mystery will be available in two varieties this year.  There will be a comfy cozy version called April Breezes and a more dynamic version called March Winds. I will be giving you a lap quilt size (62" x 62") for both versions BUT this is a quilt that can easily be enlarged simply by adding more blocks.  Both April Breezes and March Winds use the same basic blocks.  March Winds has two additional design elements that completely change the quilt.

Both quilt versions can be used as scrapbusters. I suggest that you choose a border fabric that you can’t bear to cut and pick fabrics that complement it for the center. You could also make a controlled scrappy quilt from a layer cake.  April Breezes can easily be done as a two-color quilt, and March Winds can be done as a three color quilt by using the third color as the design elements.

There is a small amount of fusible applique in March Winds.  If you have never done it before, don't stress!  It's easy, fun, and a bit addictive.  Watch the video from McCalls Quilting here. There is a longer version here from Superior Threads and Bernina that has more finishing information. If you have trouble with videos, there is an article at The Clever Quilter.

Requirements:

Get a current version of AdobeThese clues will be given in PDF format.  If you don't have Adobe on your computer - or are having trouble reading the PDF - try downloading an Adobe update.  Click on the banner to the right.

Test your ability to download an PDF document here.  This is the fusible design element for March Winds.  If you would like to make this ahead of time, you will need 32 of these diamonds made out of the accent fabric.

Are you following along on your tablet?  You can easily put an icon on your home screen.  These directions are for an ipad, but most tablets will have a similar method.  Just touch the Add Bookmark button at the top of your browser.  In the dropdown menu that appears, touch Add to Home Screen and a tiny Quiltbug with the words April Breezes underneath it will appear on your home screen.  Tap that bug once an hour to get updates!  The picture below is a thumbnail - click on it see it up close.

How to add a bookmark to your ipads home screen.

I always get this question: can I share this pattern?  Yes, for a price:-)) The price is a donation of any size to the CF foundation.  They are so very close to a cure for this genetic disease - it may just be YOUR donation that makes the difference.  So feel free to copy and share - but please don't remove our request for a donation.  Click here to donate at http://www.cff.org/GetInvolved/ManyWaysToGive/MakeADonation/

Here are the clues!  They will become active at the start of the hour shown. If it doesn't seem to be updating, hold down the shift button and click reload or refresh.
